Title: Fashion magazine - 02
Artist: Hakka (
prue84 )
Fandom: Star Trek (reboot)
Pairing: Kirk/Spock
Characters: James Kirk, Spock
Rating: PG-13
Tagline: What if Spock and Kirk, as couple, were featured in a fashion magazine - part two.
Series: Second and last shot for the series. First piece here.
Notes: See the first pic.
Notes 2: Edited, as in August 2018, because on brighter monitors the blacks of Spock's head are definitely too heavy.
Tec stuffs (aka Behind The Manip): When I've managed to make a decent version of the first pic, I decided to make a Reboot version for this base pic as well.
Disclaimer: Don't own anything on this. Full credits below the manip itself.

Date: 26/06/2015 02:26 (UTC)Actually, most of the universe was built AFTER we came up with Alexander and yeah, you're right, as of now, the plot screams for a successor. I never really thought about it, but now that you make me see... my wonderful Lexy, I feel the need to have 518951 "mirror reboot meets reboot" just to have this baby meet the reboot people and give him an alive Jim Kirk. <3
*
Poor T'Pring is a bitch, in here, while on TOS she... well, she is if you see it as Kirk or Spock fangirl, but was actually forced in a corner so I'm always torn in my judgment over her. This mirror reboot though, she only looks for getting a good husband to get into a more famous clan. Am I forgiven?
*
Unfortunately not. Me and my co-neuron/co-writer have stopped after we had a fight and then, months later when we made up, she said she didn't want to keep writing because it had become almost a work, 2 hours every evening, and chapters kept adding up with new things needing to make their way in the plot just to estabilish better the characters.
I, probably because I was eager to write or because I liked the idea to have someone who prompted me to write everyday, was bummed but... with her still going to university and with the prospect of never be able to finish and therefore publish it... motivation was lacking, on her part.
We decided to return to write, but focusing on single episodes that have a start and an end, in hope to finish them and be able to publish: we're currently working on the whole Gary bit.
Gary gets killed (gored) by Spock because Gary was trying to get into Jim's pants and trying at the same time to steal Jim away from the _add insult here because Gary's a racist_. You know, you never try to steal Jim from Spock, that's a law in every universe, but in this one Spock's a little bit more on the "think before act" side. :D
And then follows a court martial (like in the episode), with Jim trying to save Spock's ass, the Human supremacist faction doing their thing and so on. I hope that at least this we manage to finish.
Before actually writing the monsterfic, we wrote a smaller one focused about Alexander and Sh'aar and Bones meeting the past Jim and Spock when Jim and Spock still were in the early stage of their bond. We did finish that (we decided to give this a try, to see if we could embark in the monsterfic), but we need to heavily fix it (the first chapters are too short compared to the following, our styles in the meantime blended ecc) and she still has to fix the English in the last 20 pages.
Could you believe that we managed to write the whole book I, start the book II (Jim in his first year at college), so less than 1/3 of the plot, and... we hit 1230 pages? XD
Monsterfic was the right definition, isn't it? :D
Sorry, long comment but you're actually the first (besides a real-life friend) I talk to about this fic, and I got pretty excited!

Of course you are forgiven. A good (i.e. wealthy) marriage is an absolution in itself! ;)

So there's a chance the epic will be finished some day! And don't call it monsterfic, the only monstrous fiction is badly written fiction! ;) So, I wish you both lots of inspiration and stamina - keep the good work going!
No need to apologize - I LOVE to discuss fiction!

Date: 30/06/2015 02:20 (UTC)Ok, first you need to know this:
1) not all katra will have the gift to find their t'hy'la. It's unknown if they don't have a t'hy'la/soulmate, if their t'hy'la simply is born in another time or whatever: what Vulcans believe is that people who had the luck to find their t'hy'la will keep reincarnate and in every reincarnation, they are destined to find each other. Some believe that the t'hy'lara couples known in Vulcan history are made by the same katra that keep reincarnate; in this case, the number of t'hy'lara katra is unknown.
2) in Jim and Spock's case, their destined to die before they can properly age together.
3) there's the concept about nepik and abrukhausu. The abrukhausu is the dominant of the couple, while the nepik is the submissive. They're not like their BDSM counterparts: the nepik can be the stronger in character, while the abrukhausu can be the most unstable, and it's not necessary that the nepik subs in bed. It really depends from couple to couple. [I don't remember if there's an explanation of this concept in the summary you read]
4) In Jim and Spock's case, Jim is the nepik and Spock the abrukhausu. Spock won't sub, sexually speaking, until they become a more stable couple way into their bond (this is his only quirk, that he always must be in control blah blah). Spock is the one whose character is more grounded: he's got a happy childhood and a stable family. He's balanced, for as much a Vulcan of this universe (slave of emotions) can be. Jim, on the other hand, got so much shit in his life... He's strong but not stable, at all, and he will deeply benefit from a grounded mate like Spock.
Jim will reach his true potential only with Spock at his side. And this happens in EVERY reincarnation of theirs.
Ok, now, for the actual reincarnations. Two of them are classic, for a T'hy'la fic. Whatever.
1) Ancient Vulcan warriors. Vulcan!Jim comes from the North of the planet. He has long blond hair and looks more like an elf (see Legolas' father in The Hobbit). He has been exiled from his own village (long story, only partially developed in my head, but he had been picked by the village as the next head of it, and the people didn't like the choice). He's quiet, elegant and open-minded. He roams with a le-matya as companion, as his people bond with a cub of le-matya when they're little. They have their own traditions, like a long ritual for burying the le-matya and different customs than the Vulcans from the South. (( They're an ethnic group/race that died out during the famous wars that lead to the raising of Surak - in this universe, at least. Their very existence is legend and there is little evidence that they really existed. ))
When he arrives at Spock's camp he didn't mean to stay (he decided to be a wanderer), but ends up staying. The commander takes a liking at him but, unfortunately, can't appoint him as next commander even if he wished to. Jim is good in battle but he's seen as "inferior" because of his delicate features and his crazy opinions, like the one about gender equality (Spock's people threat females as walking baby machines, mostly)
He and Spock eventually start to like each other and then find out they are meant for each other. The concept of t'hy'la is either still not invented or doesn't exist in this village. They bond and have children (through a female who will happen to be the one with Gaila's katra). Their dream is to give life to a new clan. I'm not sure if they manage of Spock dies before doing it (dies in war), but what I know is that Vulcan!Jim does found the clan, that later becomes known as the clan founded by t'hy'lara.
It's unknown if this is the first time their katra met.
Jim doesn't survive many years after Spock's death. He sees that his children are grown and adult, and then looses his will of live.

Date: 30/06/2015 02:21 (UTC)3) Alexander the Great (Jim) and Hephaistion (Spock). Same as above. Please note that me and my co-neuron based this reincarnation of Oliver Stone's revisited cut.
4) Caesar (Jim) and Brutus (Spock). Based on Conn Iggulden's four book series about him, where Julius and Brutus become friends and almost brothers since childhood. This reincarnation shows how Jim can spin out of control if Spock isn't there to balance him. Since Brutus and Caesar get split when their young and then, when they meet again, Caesar is already set on his own conquering path, they pick different sides and Brutus makes it his duty to stop Caesar And then yes, Brutus kill Caesar blah blah. So, to summarize: remove Spock from Jim and he'll go mad; have Spock not even bond/marry/love Jim, and it'll be even worst.
5) A reincarnation as Andorians is mentioned. In this race there are four genders so they will have a foursome couple. The other two will be previous reincarnation of Gaila's (who is Jim best friend in this mirror verse) and Sh'aar (who is Spock's pledged bloodbrother).
If there's been other reincarnations before they were born as Jim and Spock, it's not known. Jim and Spock were meant to discover this few months before Spock's death through the guy of Requiem for Methuselah, who actually you'd find out is somehow a Homer and already knows, from the start, how the story will go.
So, there's a pattern in their life. Spock dies, Jim gets out of his mind, and chaos erupts. :D
I should've explained all. I think.

Thank you so much for the explanations, it was a great read, and it's a great universe you two created!

The book reminded me of old school Kirk/Spock fics. Especially in the way the author approaches sex scenes, so you might love it. Sure, it's not super historically accurate and I'd take it as historical (slash) fanfic, but surely is worth the money of the book. ;)

You're welcome. And thanks again for showing interest in this. ;)

Date: 06/07/2015 15:04 (UTC)Alexander already was a myth in his lifetime, so who wants to decide what's accurate and what's not? ;) No, seriously, in a novel I don't look for accuracy but for good and solid psychology. As soon as I'm through with the Brontës I'll go for Alexander. (I'll need the diversion...)
You're most welcome!!
