Title: Reboot Charvanek (Romulan Commander)
Artist: Hakka ( [personal profile] prue84 )
Fandom: Star Trek (reboot)
Characters: Romulan Commander ("The Enterprise Incident")
Rating: G
Tagline: Hannah John-Kamen as the Romulan Commander from TOS "The Enterprise Incident".
Series: Reboot fancasting
Notes: It never occurred to me to find a fancasting for an AOS version of the Romulan Commander. But... the first time I saw this specific Killjoy's attire, I immediately thought about Joanne Linville's character, especially because in another still, this actress/character is drinking and it reminded me the scene when the Commander drinks with Spock. Since then, I was sold.
Notes 2: In canon she doesn't have a name. Non-canon material give her few names, including Liviana Charvanek; I decided to add it to the character's official handle just to be more specific.
Notes 3: After a dry spell that started in April, something actually seemed to change in the last ten days of May: not only I started something new, picking from my too-long to-do list, but actually managed to even finish it. Hurrah for me!
Notes 4: I'm toying with the idea of coming up with a The Enterprise Incident AOS remix so to make an edit for it (and, boy, Romulan-ize Pine's Kirk!), because that Hannah John-Kamen's pic just calls for this episode.
Tec stuffs (aka Behind The Manip): The results are a bit different from what I planned back when I found and downloaded the pic. The idea was to change the costume to look closer to the original character.
For the naked legs to replace the clothed ones, I tried few pics of models from catwalks but the results were... meh. The boots were to be replaced by a pair made of high-knee black leather ones. The search for a picture that would work gave me one (1) result, and didn't even work. So, in the end, I gave up and kept Killjoy's original attire.
The actress face was to be modified to include the TNG-era Romulan ridges. Then it hit me that we did have canon Reboot Romulans, and - being this a reboot character - the 2009's version was the look to be used. I tried my best to keep the reboot Romulan makeup/prosthetics but I don't think I completely managed on the nose, compared to the Romulan woman used as reference. The tattoo (that non-canon material established as mourning signs) stayed for two reasons: first, I couldn't properly remove it from the reference's forehead and second, without it, the woman looked just a vampire from Buffy The Vampire Slayer cosplaying a Vulcan. Lol.
All in all, though, I like what I see.
Sorry for the "blurred" look: the original picture is very crispy, and I did my best to remove the noise.
