My evil, evil bad mate memorytrees is doing icons, challenges and such since last year and sometimes she shares with me her wonderful creations, poking in the meantime my icon Muse without even being aware. :P
Two weeks ago she shared the theme's page of disney2020 (which was inspiring and made me cry at the same time, because... too much awesome icons!). Anyway, between that community's affiliates there was startrek20in20 and I knew that was my place! XD

I'm far from an icon genius but I hope participating will help me improve. :3

Guarda, ammetto che sono venute molto a caso, come metà delle volte. Avevo il bianco e nero e ho dato un colpo di gomma, e poi "hmmm, interessante..." =)

Geniale! Credevo fosse un gradient! Mi sa che ci proverò... in caso ti darò il credit della cosa. Comunque anche a me spesso le icone vengono a caso... inserisco un gradient che m'immagino funzioni con un "sovrapponi" o un "luce soffusa", ci provo una cosa che non c'entra niente e... magia!! Icona fantastica!

Nessun credit: sono sicura di non essere stata l'unica, dai! XD Sarà che io con PS vado d'accordo fino ad un certo punto, quindi gioco più con gli strumenti base che non con le funzioni strane... anni con Paint Shop Pro non si possono cancellare con la gomma. XD

Guarda, per mia personale esperienza (e anche quella del mio socio memorytrees), le cose fatte a caso sono le migliori!

io ho lavorato sempre (dal 2005, quando ho cominciato con la prima icona della mia vita) con PS7 e solo recentemente sono passata a CS3. Bel salto, ma le abitudini, come dici tu, sono brutte a morire e così alla fine uso molte tecniche che già conoscevo e poco quelle nuove di questa versione recente.

Io ho iniziato nel 2004 facendo layout e ho iniziato pian piano con CS2 perché PSP7 è una piaga quando si tratta di usare i font (o si termina o comunque ha stili idioti), ma ammetto di usarlo ancora perché molti gesti sono più "veloci" ed efficaci (vedi per togliere il background alle immagini, vai di bacchetta magica e tollerance alta). Certo, quando dovrò cambiare PC non so come farò. ^^"

You have no idea how much I was pleased to open the mail and see there was a comment here in DW! It's been literally years since I got a comment either here on LJ and, being these two places my favorite for fandom things... T_T

I'm only sorry that I've done little to nothing with the TOS guys, but I found easier to work with the Reboot on manips (bigger and higher quality material, to start with). :)

That's a nifty icon you're using here too! And yes, I think there are a number of canons where the source material is dark, grainy or just not that high quality, even for small graphics.

I'm always happy to see work for them though, especially as so much early fanart has disappeared.
